Two Archivist Positions Open in Wyoming

Two archivist positions have been added to the Wyoming State Library’s job board:

Deputy State Archivist
Wyoming State Archives, Cheyenne WY

Description from the vacancy announcement:
The Wyoming State Archives’ mission is to be a resource to those within and outside state government in need of records with administrative, legal, fiscal and/or historical value; a source for those interested in Wyoming’s non-governmental history; and an active participant and leader in the archival community. The Deputy State Archivist will direct and instruct professional and other staff on completion of duties as assigned, promote access to documents and information held in the Wyoming State Archives, and facilitate communication between the different work areas within the Archives, and between the Archives and other archival institutions, state agencies and departments, and county and city governments. Open until filled.

 

Director
American Heritage Center, Laramie WY

Description from the vacancy announcement:
The University of Wyoming invites applications and nominations for the position of Director of the American Heritage Center. The Center (http://www.uwyo.edu/ahc/) is a major archival repository holding more than three thousand manuscript collections. Our collecting areas are regional, national, and international in scope. The AHC also maintains the university’s rare book collection and serves as the university archives.  Its holdings draw scholars from the US and abroad, as well as serving graduate and undergraduate students at UW, teachers in Wyoming, and the public. The Center is an active sponsor of scholarly and popular programs including lectures, symposia, and exhibits. The University seeks an individual having the vision, experience, and leadership needed to sustain and advance the American Heritage Center’s stature as a research and outreach institution of national and international distinction. Apply by Sept. 15, 2015.
