Valerie Maginnis, takes the helm of the Lincoln County Library System as the new director today according to Library Board Chairman, Diane Kenney. Maginnis comes to Lincoln County with over 35 years of library experience including director positions in Boulder, Colorado, and Mission Viejo, California. In addition, Maginnis has worked as a children’s librarian, reference librarian and county library regional manager. Maginnis is excited to be working for the Lincoln County Library System because of the strong support given to the county’s libraries by the Board of Library Trustees, County Commissioners and county residents. Maginnis states that working in public libraries has always been her passion and that as a member of the library team, she is committed to ensuring that the library continues to be relevant and essential to Lincoln County residents.
Maginnis received her library degree from the University of Arizona and she holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration. In addition she attended the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service at the University of Virginia.
Maginnis is looking forward to meeting library users throughout the county and will be seeking input and feedback on library services and programs that cater to the interests and needs of all county residents. She is looking forward to collaborating with the Library Foundation, Friends groups and community organizations, with the goal of further strengthening the library’s mission and vision. Her enthusiasm for libraries can be summed up in these words, “ When you visit the library, you may not know what you’ll find, but you can be assured, whatever it is, it will be great!”
