Teen Video Contest Promotes Summer Reading

Dec 10, 2015

Teen Video ChallengeWyoming teens are invited to “Get in the Game” and compete in the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) 2016 Teen Video Challenge by creating a video that promotes summer reading at their local library.

Videos must be 30 to 90 seconds long, promote the idea of using public libraries and reading, include their interpretation of the 2016 CSLP teen slogan “Get in the Game – Read,” be designed for use at any library, and be appropriate for viewing by audiences of all ages. Videos will be judged on creativity, message clarity and relevance, motivation and inspiration, and overall impact.

Deadline to submit videos is March 11, 2016; winners will be announced in April.

One video created by a teen or group of teens will be selected as the Wyoming State winner and will receive $150 along with a $50 award for their library. All state winning videos will become property of CSLP and will be viewed nationwide in conjunction with the official 2016 CSLP campaign.

“We want to get teens involved in summer reading even before the summer months,” said Chris Van Burgh, CSLP coordinator at the Wyoming State Library. “We want to tap into their creativity and give them the opportunity to see their ideas shared with a national audience. This contest is a great way to do that.”
