Today’s Google Doodle Honors Bessie Coleman – Learn More in GoWYLD.net

Jan 26, 2017

Today’s Google Doodle is in honor of Bessie Coleman’s 125th birthday. Bessie “Queen Bess” Coleman (January 26, 1892 – April 30, 1926), was the first African American woman to become an airplane pilot, and the first American woman to hold an international pilot’s license.

To learn more about her life as an aviator, check out Biography in Context.  For a look at fiction and nonfiction books about her, go to Novelist Plus.  Both can be found in GoWYLD.net.

(And click on the book cover to find this wonderful children’s book about her in a Wyoming library.)
