FY21 reflected a decline in library visits and program attendance as libraries maintained COVID-19 public health and safety measures. Operating expenditures slightly declined as services were scaled back at the beginning of FY21. This decline was also reflected in the total number of staff working in public libraries. Circulation was similar to FY20, with electronic materials accounting for 16% of total items checked out from libraries. Physical collection size grew slightly as libraries finished weeding projects during FY20 closures and began purchasing new materials for their collections.

FY21 is also the first year to collect statistics on “other” material types, such as WiFi hotspots, laptops, and backpacks. After a few years, this will more accurately capture the extent of services and loaned items available in Wyoming libraries.
